I find it hypocritical that some of the cyclists that attended the rally, may in fact have broken the law in the past by running red lights along Shore Drive. I have witnessed a few cyclists that have done so. One tried to beat the light at Northampton and Pleasure House Road just yesterday. Some cyclists want the law changed, yet will openly break the law...a bit ironic.
ReplyDeleteA designated and marked bike route parallels Dam Neck Road. I use it regularly and it is one of the best bike trails in the city, smooth asphalt and uncongested. Unfortunately, many riders, including teams of racers, foolishly insist on asserting their "right" to ride along the safety line on Dam Neck Road mere inches from a solid stream of cars and trucks traveling at 55+ mph. Come on, use some common sense. Most of those drivers can't even see you until they are almost on top of you! Use the Bike Trail!!
